i3 and i8 are anomalies for BMW. All their other cars without exception are overweight.
Agreed. I loved my 1600ti, then 2002tii, both fitted w LSD, bilsteins, weight loss diet. Light weight cars, great visibility, superb steering, reliable for ever.

Fast forward to E90 335, tuned, LSD etc., great car. Then F80 M3: very capable and comfortable car, but relatively isolated driver feel. A bit porky.

The i8 drives more like the 2002: CF is super rigid, 3300lbs feels nimble. AWD is a bit cumbersome to powersteer, visibility is compromised, and braking is not supercar. That said, mild weight loss diet, tune, and Michelins make it my favorite bimmer ever. I am too young to have had a chance to drive a 507.
