I'm a fan of retention holsters but you do need to practice with them. Drawing can be shit if you are stressed, also re-holstering without looking and then there is the retention aspect. You don't want your firearm taken and maintaining it in the holster when someone is trying to strip it requires ongoing practice.
I'm looking forward to the practice Murf! I've already been practicing my draw and dry firing every day to get used to the Glock grip angle, and instinctively placing the red dot on target without hunting for it. Getting the retention system committed to muscle memory will be part of that same process.
