I don't think the i8 is a one size fits all car, but if you can afford it and other cars it's an amazing addition to a line up. Would I sell my Ferrari for it? No. but in addition to my Ferrari it adds a great juxtaposition in my lineup. I think next spring I'm going to pick up a Challenger Hellcat for Pittsburgh and sell the S550. Talk about contrasting cars with the i8, XC90 and hellcat.
If you can only afford one car and you want to check every box get an Audi RS7 or something. But I promise anyone who doesn't have one, take an i8 in public once, see people's reactions, and you'll realize just just special i8 ownership is.
