I have BMWs for a long time including many of the ones you mention, including M2 CS, i8, X5M……
I fully expect this car to depreciate similar to other BMWs and if I were in the market, would wait until the leases are aggressive. I would also expect the X5M to depreciate a lot, even with a good discount upfront. This is assuming the market will be back to the pre pandemic state within the next 12+ months.
BMW is not a brand that holds its value well, except with some niche models. The I8 is a great example, that was even touted as their halo car and it still depreciated very strongly. Looks like you and I hope for the M2 CS to be that unicorn niche model……
