It can be both simultaneously. It's a bunch of snowflakes with their panties in a bunch doing the boycotting.
Also, you might or not know that ratings were down at the end of last year, and the beginning of this year prior to any of this bullshit, and we are seeing nothing more than a continuing trend. Attributing it to boycotts is cherry picking data to say the least.
