I currently have 4.5 yr old F80 M4. I did not get a service contract but did get an after-market extended warranty for 7 years 100k miles. I usually keep cars 6-7 years (prev had 2 M3s, E46 and E90). Both prev cars had expensive repairs in the 6th or 7th years and warranty saved me a lot. This M4 seems more reliable and I am driving less as well so I may not have needed the warranty.
I have pre-ordered the i4 M50 so hopefully will get next spring. Thinking that this is the 1st generation of electric vehicles for BMW so don't plan to keep past 4 year warranty. Has BMW given any clue what service will be required? The BMW website has a brochure that includes a set service package of 4 years, basic is $1240 and Plus is $4805. Does BMW anticipate massive brake wear that would warrant expensive brake repairs in less than 4 years? Is anybody contemplating an extended warranty?
