Up until a year or so ago, I hadn't touched Legos at all since I was little. I knew some folks that had their kids involved w/ Lego robotics competitions. Turns out that there is a huuuuge underground Lego market chock full of custom and modified parts. The NVG, ACH, sidearm holsters, M60, etc... are all from that world. I even have forward moving flags on their right shoulders. Pretty cool IMHO.
I originally re-visited Legos because I randomly came across a Lego A-10C that someone made. The GAU-8 barrels even rotated. They had a parts list and everything but a # of them went obsolete. As a side project, I've been re-creating that parts list.
For OP, Legos are more bad@$$ now than they were when I was a kid. Can't go wrong w/ them.
