Both Morey and D'Antoni are BIG on numbers, and they emphasize it with the players. It may be boring, and it may seem dumb, but it's not....it works. Look at the offensive records Houston broke this season, also the fact that they had the best record in the league, and more than likely would've been in the Finals had Chris Paul not gotten hurt (speculative assumption, I know, but we had beaten them 3 out of the last 4 games).
But just like anything else, there will always be times where it backfires or doesn't work as well as you hope. Unfortunately for us, it happened to be on our biggest game in the last couple decades when we were missing our leader and probably most important player. That's life :shrug: |
I don't know. To me, this is not the right way to play. I was naturally a very good shooter and shot 3s early on, but as I learned the fadeaway, stepback, crossover and finally to drive (hardest thing for me to learn) and basically to create my own shot, I never took a 3 again. Unfortunately for me, all these things came together after I quit the HS JV team. The coach was an a-hole. I tried out for the CSUN team as a walk-on my first semester. That was an interesting experience. Brand new balls that had no grip. lol
