Perhaps they could've backed off a bit to keep speed down, but I honestly hate to second guess a situation that I wasn't involved in and am not fully briefed on the actual facts, evidence and officers and witness statements.

This is a situation that is excellent for a police helicopter, I don't know if one was available. We didn't have one in my dept because the left leaners thought it was too expensive.
