I don't know if Sal's is still around or if they are just in the far NW burbs now but they were a pretty good place for hole in the wall pizza. They actually reduce the price a little if you ask for easy cheese. lol.
There are a few good thin crust places (like really thin, thin crust) that I know of way out in the N burbs. A hop on 90/94 (and 30-60min depending on traffic...) gets you most of the way there. One is Emil's and the other is Bill's, both along Lake St.

I'll have to try some of those places. A good place for thin crust in Chicagoland is Vito & Nick's.
