Insurance rates vary tremendously, based on dozens of individual parameters, starting with location, history, group discounts (and where they get applied), limits, deductibles, etc, etc.
FWIW, I'm paying, in NJ, $1100/year on the MY'17 BEV i3.
That's a few bucks more than I pay to insure the M3, which makes little sense.
If I still lived in the City, it would be 3x that.
If I still lived in mid-west, it might be 1/2 that.
