If you price out what you want on the Herman Miller site, you can get an idea for the highest that you will pay. Many places may be able to negotiate on price, and you should be able to pay less than what you see on the HM site.
I'm not supposed to say what I pay for mine from a buddy who owns an interior design company that sells them, so I will let others respond in that aspect. I will say, if you get a HM chair, you will end up owning more than one since they last forever. I inherited one from my old man that is going on 35 years old now, still as comfortable as I can ever remember and I have only had to replace casters over the years.
