Carac, I feel your frustration. I have no doubt it will be worth the wait once we get our cars, but the waiting coupled with the lack of solid information does get annoying. I'm going to Bimmerfest this weekend here in Southern California, and will try to wrench any information I can from BMW reps (also hope to also see the i8 in person again). If I find anything out, I'll be sure to post it.
