Definitely not in your face. I really only get a note of maple and a little sweetness at the finish. According to the description, they use old bourbon barrels to age maple syrup in, and then reuse those barrels with bourbon for a maple finish. I think Crown Royal blends in maple flavor instead of aging, giving it more of a maple syrup quality.
