You have to remember the beauty of the i3 is in it's efficiency. THAT is the whole purpose of its existence. We are talking about a car that is probably going to be rated at 120MPGe. This is twice as efficient as a Prius, AND much quicker. It holds about 2/3 gallon of fuel equivalent, and yet can go close to 100 miles on that same amount of energy. 1 gal gas=approx. 33kwh. I3 battery = approx. 22kwh.

We are talking about a car that gets better fuel efficiency than any motorcycle, and just about any scooter or moped. That's the perspective you need to look at to realize how revolutionary these cars are. To put things into context, you take 4 people on a 50mile trip in this thing for the same amount of energy it takes to run your Central air conditioner for about 2hrs.

And don't forget the Porsche 918 was berated for all its unnecessary batteries, and motors, etc. Then it promptly went out and shattered the Nuburgring lap record for a production car.

Electric cars are absolutely effortless on the launch. And though they may be faster, it almost makes you laugh hearing how hard a petrol engine car has to try to keep up. A 4800Lb Tesla Sedan will beat almost any stock M3 0-60mph and through the qtr mile. I believe the EPA rating is about 85MPGe on that same Tesla. Again, better than a Prius by a wide margin.
