Well, actually it
is about the trees - the 65 million year-old trees and earlier, and the ocean sludge and the various deceased saurians and their kin. That's all there is. There are no more. So when they're gone, that's it. Electricity has the unique property of being able to be manufactured from multiple other energy sources, including the before mentioned limited dead, squished and substantially modified over millions of years organic things, the (relatively) unlimited supply of solar rays, heat from the (relatively) endless supply of radioactivity in the Earth, the (relatively) endless supply of blowing wind, the chemical and physical interaction of a variety of truly eternal atoms, and flowing water generated from the endless (for practical purposes) supply of gravity. And our ability to improve the technology to extract even more from these and perhaps other as yet unknown sources.
