For the level I am in and the interest I have in losing, I don't want to invest in any company that is headed towards bankruptcy.
Reality is more complicated, some have made large amounts of money by figuring out that the assets of some companies are worth far more than the liabilities and while the company is headed down the drain, buying it at the right price and paying off the debts will leave them with assets worth more than they put in. They then sell the assets, company doesn't exist and they walk away rich.
