Garage List
I have followed this since a R&T article about 3 years ago. From what Ive read, current police spec cars are close to 100k, Its about 34 for the car, then all the computer systems, lighting, sirens, bumper pars, paint, fence between front and back seat, custom rear seats. Gun holsters, and trunk retrofit are the other 50-70k.

These are supposed to be 40k Ready to patrol the streets. They can do this because all the components and special equipment will be built right into the car on the production line.

This doesnt help all the current cruisers out there. But their plan is to contract these cars out to replace all existing patrol cars in the US. So future savings from wrecks and what not will be huge. Also working on them will be a huge cost savings as well, since they will all be production vehicles. There will be some gas savings now they are going disel. But that wasent part of the big picture till recently.
