Snow has arrived and I was able to test my i8 for the first time in 10cm snow with Nokian WR D4 front and WR A4 rear tires. I am a daily driver and have the intention to use the car throughout winter. My impressions:
- the car lacks weight on the front axle. Front wheels tend to spin fairly quickly.
- all wheel drive works as expected on snow
- the mixed Nokian A4 and D4 tires have a pretty good grip. It is not as good as my Audi S5, but I would guess that it is mainly due to the total car weight
- some more ground clearance would be useful in deep snow
Over all I am satisfied and glad that I can continue to enjoy my i8 even during winter.
