It's indeed strange, but having a shift lever like stick thats in reality just a switch is also strange. I mean with an old fashioned automatic years ago there might have been cables etc going into the slushbox, but I think this is all electronic.

But maybe its better to do it just like ferrari, mclaren, lamborghini etc, and just have 2 or 3 pushbuttons there.
