Demo M50s released for sale?

Just an FYI, looks like dealer demo M50s have been released for sale if that's your thing. Saw my local dealer listed theirs and a bunch of 2022s are newly listed on autotrader.

Unfortunately many seem to be low-optioned, but they are out there for anybody fed up with waiting

I don't feel like that is an issue with electric cars. There is no motor or transmission to screw up by running it hard with cold oils or before it has been properly broken in that you would never know about. What are you going to hurt on an EV in a couple hundred miles? Yes people could have slammed potholes or other wear and tear but all of that would be visible or show up on a test drive (if you are praying attention). Right?

Wrong, at least according to the manual. In addition to your regular brakes and tires break-in, you need to avoid full throttle first 300 miles. I guarantee you those demos have been launched dozens of times before 300 miles.

Now the reality is, if it would really damage the drive system, they wouldn't allow you to launch or go full throttle until the drive system is broken in.

Regardless, I wouldn't want a demo unit.

1000% No used demo for us ever.

We did it ONE TIME and ONE TIME only. We bought a Demo Mercedes E420 with about 500 miles on it. The day we took delivery, were were entering the 405 Freeway and accelerated firmly (but not full throttle) and the front axle cracked and the wheel bent it....and it was a terrible event.

We found out the Demo we bought was used for track testing and had hundreds of people driving it before we bought it. Never again!!

Fair enough. I wouldn't want one either, but I really think it is much less of an issue than with an ICE car.

I was very luck in that I got my demo within a week it was delivered to them and with zero miles, well 4 miles to be precise.

There's very little evidence I have seen of electro mechanical devices breaking down without bedding in. Do you not use full speed on your blender when you first use it? Not run your A/C on max?

BMW IMO is just trying for consistency with ICE. They use the same bed in period for brakes - 300 miles. But those are used much less in EVs. So why the same measure?

Properly bedding brakes involves a few high speed stops in a row to spread pad material, followed by a cool down without touching the breaks at all. Done in 5 minutes on an empty road. I don't get what 300 miles has to do with brakes.
