My cool iX M60 in this sweltering 100°+ Texas heat!

Putting all the recalls and little annoyances aside, this really is an excellent vehicle. I really do love it!

Great pic, awesome car. It is still oddly and surprisingly cool here in So. Cal, but our near triple or actual triple digits are coming next week. The iX is such a great car in the heat....pre-cool with the app, strong ventilated seats, UV front window glass....Amazing!

Not to mention my 9% and 10% window tint! That’s the VLT rating on the front and rear after it was applied to the glass. I did 70% on the entire vehicle (including the roof and windshield) except the front two windows which is 15%. Note the VLT rating is actually lower than that. I did it this way so there would be a near perfect match between the front and rear. The front measures at 9%, and the rear measures at 10%. It doesn’t look like the way in the photo because of the sunlight coming through the windshield, but the front is actually 1% darker.

Of course not! It was just an impromptu photo. I had to remove a snake out of the garage that got caught on one of those pest control sticky pads. I’m happy to report he was freed and returned to the wild.

Freaked me out because the pad wasn’t where it was before. I was unloading something out of the tailgate and it was right there.

Within 1 day of taking ownership of my iX 50 and 60...I had both cars tinted with high performance ceramic tinting, 35% and 20%. My car is cool as a cucumber.

The tinting on the iX is important (all cars, IMO), but the iX A/C is for sure not as strong as say in our X5 or B8. Even on Max, the iX is not super strong. But the UV windshield, tinting and ventilated seats....pretty darn comfortable!

The snake pic! I hate nothing more than snakes. I do not love spiders, lizards, insects, rodents...but I have no fear. Snakes are the worst to me. Of course in CA, we have tons and lots of rattlers.

I am honestly nervous to ask how you got the snake off the sticky paper!!!!

When I lived on the outskirts of San Antone (Universal City) we had to keep an eye peeled for rattlers when walking out back, but the fire ants were worse because they were always there....

And nothing like encountering one of these in your bathroom in the wee morning hours in the Lone Star state (everything really IS bigger in Texas!):

But back to cars, tinting the iX really does make the cabin more comfortable, comparing pre- and post-, and I've never had to use my Covercraft sunscreen once out here on the lone prairee, even in the non-Texas sub-hundred degree Summers.

Damn. None of this wildlife in the Boston suburb where I live. We just have to dodge bears as we drop our kids off at school.

Sadly, it does not look like you rescued the poor little lizard in time. It starved to death

Looks like it was a baby gecko. Normally these pads are not out in the open, so I would not have noticed until Mr. snake decided to pay us a visit.

What? Don't tell me that. I thought everyone was saying the ventilated seats aren't that great on the iX. Now I am regretting not having it on mine.

It's not just cabin air ventilated through your seats - it's A/C'ed air. My seats feel *cold* to the touch in summer.

Edit: after further testing, I've confirmed that air is sucked into the seats, not blown out. So it is just cabin air (which may be A/C cooled).

The main reason I traded my '22 iX 50 for a '23 M60 was to get ventilated seats.

They are not as strong and cold as Ford, Lincoln, Jaguar or Range Rover....but I am impressed with the iX vented seats.

BMW says ventilated seats, whereas Ford/Lincoln and Jaguar/Land Rover say cooled...but I swear the air blowing out of my iX seats feels chilled some days when really hot.

Does anyone else feel the iX ventilated seats blows cold, and not just ambient temp?

Yeah in tropical Singapore we get heated seats and steering. And no ventilated seats . Isn't that "great"?

It really makes no sense to me why some options are available in some countries and not others. Unless there’s some sort of country mandate, BS options like this should be the same worldwide.

one of the really welcome surprises in this car is the fact that if you turn on the pre-cooling in the summer like 5 min before you come back to the car, it is really nice and cold including the seats.

The debate over BMW’s ventilated seats is a golden oldie. Does warm air go into them or A/C-cooled air come out of them? The issue has been discussed for many years over many model series.

My conclusion regarding my former 5 series and 8 series is that A/C-cooled air came out of them, though many disagreed with me.

I lost that when I dallied with Lexuses (aka Lexi). There, clearly warm air was being exhausted through the seats, a rather dunderheaded solution, given that occupants’ butts and backs were blocking much of whatever was going on there.

Now, on the cusp of deciding whether to actually buy the M60 I ordered, has been built and is awaiting assignment to a ship, I am truly hoping that we can conclude that A/C air is coming out of the seats.

I’m so…obsessed…about this (living in very toasty North Florida/South Georgia) that confirmation of this could be just enough to clinch the decision and nudge me into a fersure purchase.

So all comments regarding this are appreciated. One way to test (beyond actually just feeling the seats) is to place a tissue on the seat. Is it being gently blown upward? If so, the seats are A/C cooled.
