Reset Service Indicator

I am getting a pop up telling me that I need to bring my car in for service in December. I can't seem to find a way to reset/remove this from the iX. I can see information for other models, such as "turn the car on/off three times and hold down the gear wheel" which brings up a menu, but not one to reset the service date that pops up. Essentially, the only thing the vehicle needs is a cabin filter, which I can do myself. Don't want to have to bring it in and pay some ridiculous amount to have them reset the message.

Thanks,
Dave

There was previously a way in iDrive 7 to reset various service reminders through the diagnostic menu. Fairly straightforward where these were located in the menu, but still possible to totally brick your software if you changed the wrong settings. You can access the diagnostic menu in iDrive 8 (and presumably 8.5), but unknown if you can change those settings, and the chance of changing something really critical (and dangerous) is undoubtedly still there. Presumably your car is out of warranty if you're concerned about a charge?

How long have you had your iX? I haven't had a service notification for the cabin filter which is typically done annually and I replaced mine myself when it was due but never had an indicator. However, there is a 2 year service that's needed to replace the brake fluid.

Coming up on 2 years. Not really worried about brake fluid yet. I agree that 2 years is the standard timeframe, but I live in a very dry climate (Las Vegas) and changing the brake fluid after 2 years is a bit of an overkill for this area. So it looks like I have to make a service appointment.

The filter doesn't show in the car or the app for whatever reason.

It should e free for the first one. 3 years of service included which includes brake fluid change at 2 years I think.

Depends on your mileage. I did my 2 year service and brake fluid change but I was at 65k miles already so I had to pay $370 for the brake fluid change.

Ok. The average person would not have to pay

You can do that in diagnostic mode, I just did that by a quick google search. MyBMW app however, took a couple of days to sync up with the car itself

iDrive 8: Press START/STOP three times in succession to enter diagnostic mode and then hold down the cog button on the steering wheel (the button that lets you change the instrument cluster layout) for about 15 seconds. Once active, you can cycle through the different service reminders by pressing the same cog button, and when you want to delete one hold the cog button for 5 seconds.
