How to change default rear seats temperature ?
I am having some issues trying to change the default 2nd row temperature in my default climate settings. My car has iDrive 8.5 and is 3 weeks old.
The temperature in the rear is set to 22 C both left and right as default. I would like to change it to a lower setting (20 C) as it is quite cold here at the moment, and only my dog rides in the back. So i hope reducing the heating in the rear may lower the (quite high) energy consumption. But : how to do it ? When i just change the temperature in the rear on the rear climate controls, it just changes back to 22 C after each new start. Then there are settings for the 2nd row temperature in the menu in the climate default settings of iDrive 8.5. I have changed these multiple times to 20 C but after every new start the temperature always is back to 22 C. Is it a software bug or something or am i doing something wrong ? |

I saw in one of the typical YT videos that in 8.5 if one syncs the front sides, it affects the back seats (syncs it too?). Never verified if correct or not. I too. am interested in learning the answer to your question frank70.

I need to check this. I don't think it does as my front part temperature is set on both sides to 20 C and the back still always is 22 C. But i am not sure if Sync is enabled in the front. Maybe when i enable SYNC in the front the rear will also be affected. I will test it.

Second row temperature setting??? Have we ever for sure figured this out, e.g., how to do it and have it stay that way until we choose to ourselves adjust it.
For now now knowing any better, I lowered the temp (both sides) to 66 degrees F and turned the fan off. But should I/we be doing something different to not use up EV range when no one is in the back seat (99% of the time for us)? TU. |

Yes, you need to turn off the activate with default settings option in order for it to retain whatever you set it to after turning the car off.

I have tried all settings by now in the menu, and apart from switching the rear heating totally off it always starts back at 22 C. I think it must be some software bug causing it, because i am sure i am doing everything right. It does not matter for instance if i change the temperature in the auto settings in the front to eg. 20 C, or if i change the temperature in the rear operating panel to 20 degrees C : after every new start of the car it is always back at 22 degrees C....
Must be a software bug. I-Drive 8.5. Car is 3 weeks old. |

Hey there, here's Peter from The Netherlands. I have exactly the same situation with my IX and I still haven't figured out how solve it. I've been trying the mentioned settings in the UI but to no avail. I'm going to to check with the dealer this week.

This works until the car is parked and sits and then SYNC now erases itself and rear hvac goes back to very low and 72F. So mad at BMW for letting this 7 Series bug slip into 07/2024 software. |

Gotcha. I have not "upgraded" to the new software and do not have any plans to do so.

That's a bug in the latest software. The SYNC is lost on every boot and the rear controls go back to 22C and low fan. Very frustrating.

Yeah I think I've noticed it more now on .50 as well. It seemed at first like .50 was more stable than .40, but over time I've started having the same issues as others. If/when the car goes to the dealer next, might just have to ask them to not force update me.

Did anyone manage to solve this? I have the same issue: Rear seats are always a toasty 22 degrees. It doesn't matter how I change the default settings for the rear seats, every time the car turns of it bounces back to 22 degrees.
Is there a place to report software bugs if this is indeed what it is? The BMW map also recommends me to drive on roads that are actually not for cars... |

At least here in North America, BMW uses Here maps. You can provide your own edits to the maps here: https://mapcreator.here.com (pretty sure you need to create an account for that) For reference, I corrected a couple of issues I had on usual routes in Nov 2022, which were relatively quickly approved, and as late as Nov 2024 they were still not reflected in the routing in my car. One was a pedestrian path that wasn't properly labeled as such near a family member's house so the nav would try to route us through it, and the other was a small stretch of road near my home that was marked as unpaved that the car would do an insane detour through a bunch of slow residential streets to avoid. I haven't checked in a while if the bad routes still persist; I'll try to think to check them at some point over the weekend when I have access to the car. Good luck. |

My dog hates this bug. He likes a higher fan speed and the dang thing drives me nuts. Glad to find this thread.
