Hi,

is it possible to retrofit the new iconic glow grill on an iX 40 year 2022?
Does the grill fit from the facelift? Or are the Dimension of the grill different?

I’m sure someone will come out with a retrofit kit for $200. Then it’ll cost you $2700 chasing an electrical fault only for bmw to tell you the $200 retrofit kit from China isn’t compatible.
Just ask the guys to tried to change out the puddle lights for bmw logo projectors….

I was actually thinking more about retrofitting the original facelift front grille, if the size fits.

By all accounts, it should fit. You won't be able to get access to the part for some months since these cars are so new however.

The biggest question is... where are you going to plug it in?

It’s connected to the BCP in the same way that all the exterior vanity lights (door handles etc) are. A retrofit with OEM parts and functionality will be impossible since coding the BCP cannot be done.

Do you know who sells this part? I saw someone on Facebook who was selling for 900, and I think that's absurd. However, I would definitely pay 100 or 200 for this.

Found on Chinese taobao.com, for about $400 to $500 in China. Not sure how much of an extra charge for the new tariffs if we order from US.

In case you decide to do this, make sure the led color temperatures match. I saw another video where they were different and frankly it looked terrible.

thanks so much for that link, yeah looks easily doable, only thing is pulling out the light plug and reattaching with adapter in that tight space it seems.

Cheapest one I've seen online is Ebay for $705 shipped, but they have the make an offer option, still a lot of money for a plastic trim with led around it, hope drops down more

If someone else has cheaper link, please let forum know, id be happy to be guinea pig, taobao webstite, couldn't find it as website was in different language

Saw a picture of one and the colors didn't match. Amateur hour!
