i8 Spotted in Boston
Just walked out of my apartment and saw this beauty and had to share. Can't believe how great it looked I've never really been that drawn to the look in photos. Stunning.
Sorry that the photos aren't so great had to run to catch up with it then the light changed. Last edited by duky; 08-20-2014 at 12:11 PM.. |

Nice to see what sophisto grey looks like in sunlight.
Beautiful car. Will never stop hating the tacky blue stripes.

VA requires a front plate...but I've run without one on most of my cars for years. I think the fine is $20 and I get ticketed maybe once a year. The bumper I would have to put screws in costs a lot more than $20.

Does anyone know how the fix-it tickets work for missing a front license plate (same requirement here in Ca.)? For example, doe the fine go up if they catch you missing the plate for a second or third time. I'm aware of the "temp" license plate holder one can mount to the tow attachment point in the front bumper. From the ones I've seen online, it appears that it would interfere with the front parking distance control sensors causing false readings.
Another question on the fix-it ticket: where does one have to take the car to show that you fixed it? Is it a local police station, DMV, or somewhere else? Not crazy about the idea of permanently mounting a plate to the front, but also don't want it to be a frequent headache to fix-it, pay the fine and then remove it again. |

When I lived in CA it was a $10 ticket and you just took the vehicle to a police or sheriff and they walk out and sign off on it. Not sure if it's changed since then, but at the time (7+ yrs ago) there was no tiered system for multiple offenses.
One good thing I do like about Florida: no front plates required. |

It's dumb. It ruins looks, aerodynamics, and all it is useful for is a reflective surface for lasers. |

Burbank, CA cops will pull over for any minor offense even just for a fix-it ticket.. I was pulled over for clear taillights on my then 4Runner while sitting minding my own business in a left turn lane/pocket, with turn signal on.
Yeah, front plates really ruin the look of the car. |

You have to remember that before the Pure Impulse package, there was Giga, Terra and Halo worlds interior. These were offered in Europe, thus the appearance in the roughly 30 press cars roaming around the US.
Giga is the cloth/Leather interior - not available in the US Terra - leather interior (beige or black) Halo - brown with blue stitching interior. This was the premium interior before Pure Impulse. All of the initial European press and customer brochures were printed with these three interiors. Likewise, the press cars in the US, which were built in April and May, were built with Terra or Halo interiors. That's why you see these cars on the street. The Pebble Beach car was produced with a modified Halo interior - brown with i8 headrests, brakes, etc. it's a one of a kind interior that matches very well with the frozen gray exterior. |

Giga in the US is full leather in either Black or White...but again, you can't order it yet I think they only opened up Tera after the Pure Impulse shortage. I'd be willing to bet they weren't going to offer it until later but the shortage forced a change in plan. The profit margin on the Pure Impulse package has to be way higher than the others and they wanted to have a unique package only available in early builds for posterity. All that said, the grey looks fine, I just prefer black. |
