Drive train malfunction when it's hot out

When it’s 95+ degrees outside I’ll begin to drive the i8 and the drive train malfunction comes on, cars power will deplete. It will do it if it’s very very cold outside too. But I’ll pull over. Turn car off for a few minutes. Turn it back on. Car is fine. Like nothing happened. We run diagnostics. Nothing.
Anyone else has this and actually had it further looked at and what was diagnosed? I’m about to complete an oil change and update spark plugs but I wonder if there is a sensor that is off or engine over heating? But then again it throws the drive train if it’s 18 degrees outside too. And again I’ll shut it off for a few and then it runs fine. Just curious! Or concern!
