My BMW app Remote Control Parking :-o

It's a probably not again for me

We were parked on a wide, open street picking up lunch at our fav Taco Truck today. No cars in front of me, behind me or on either side.

Opened up the My BMW app and activated remote control parking and my iX started pulling forward slowly and very straight and controlled (at first). But, I had to abort 3 times before shutting it down.

For some reason the app was hell bent on turning the wheels toward the curb and then pulling forward. The app was just intent on ramming my car into the concrete curb.

I can see this behavior being VERY dangerous and $$$ if parked between 2 cars or next to a wall

And we want to let it drive us hands-free at 80 mph down the Interstate, and are pissed that it won't....

Is remote parking only available with some driving assist package or is it standard after certain software updates?

Remote parking sounds future tech and a big wow. I have little confidence in letting the iX do the self parking with the park assistant. Quite a few times it reverse far too fast too close to the adjoining vehicles. I could see from the first attempt, its gonna miss. Far too close, far too fast. Yes I know we can apply brakes but the steering rotation angle judgment of this automated feature is still left to be desired to be able to let it do all the time.
I also noted when reversing to park between two vehicles , the camera and program aims my ride to be somewhere in between the 2 adjacent vehicles but doesn't care much if I end up IN THE MIDDLE of my own slot reference to the actual painted lines.

I’ve had it on two vehicles now and I’ve never used it once.

First time every trying it. Last time ever using it.

I have had it on a few past cars, and never even bothered to try it (especially after reading about and seeing horror stories).

I only tried it, since the location yesterday seemed "foolproof". I cannot imagine actually trying remote parking in a tight or difficult spot

I’m way too impatient for how slow it is. Just like the parallel parking feature when you’re inside the vehicle. Takes way too long for my patience level.

I'm surprised BMW can't get this right. I've had three other vehicles with self parking that all worked perfectly. Maybe not the fatest systems, but none of them hit other cars or the curb.

I had it on my G30 BMW and used it many times. I think I've only used it to exit a space and never to get into a space. I never had a problem with it and love the feature although I haven't had the need to use it on the iX -- yet.
