Hello everyone, unfortunately I have not taken the Digital Keys option to have smart acess to my vehicle via the smartphone in my pocket ... Apparently this option can not be installed after the fact, because it requires changing the phone charger induction, change the door handles., etc.

Do any of you know if we can find an alternative with a module / OBD box or via Carly or BimmerCode?

On the i4 the doors don't unlock as you approach the car. Only on the higher models, ix, i5, i7. On the i4 you have to place the phone on the sensor area just above the drivers door handle.

No idea on alternative, except that the key works the way you want, not sure if comfort access is required.

Comfort access should be standard equipment on the i4 US spec. Have you tried checking your key settings in iDrive?

Personally I’ve disabled unlock on approach as it drives me crazy. Car is constantly locking/unlocking in the garage.

As note46 mentioned, unlock/lock only works when you hold your phone up to the handle on the i4. The car isn’t outfitted with UWB tech needed for that.
