Not receiving any My BMW app notifications.

I am not receiving any notifications from My BMW app. Yes, notification is enabled as well as the individual options are enabled. Specifically, and most important to me, i am not receiving notifications about charging status, including charging starting/stopping or charging error.

I am having an occasional issue with either the charger or the house circuit that blows trips the breaker about 1 out of 7-10 charges. It would be nice to get a notification that charging has stopped so that I can check on it and reset the breaker if needed so I don't have a low uncharged battery in the morning. (I never had an issues with the breaker tripping with the Tesla charger and the Model S. I have now set up a max charge of 32A which was what my Telsa charger use to draw and still have occasional issue).

I am using a Samsung S22 Android phone.

Is everyone else getting charging notifications on their phone?

I had an issue yesterday with one of my two BMW iX. One would simply not update, and it didn’t update for about 6-7 hrs. They’re parked about 10 feet away from each other.

The other was perfectly fine. No clue why one worked and the other didn’t.

My guess is BMW's transition to AWS didn't go smooth as expected. People BMW owners report delays in vehicle status upate via MyBMW app. I even noticed once that my seating profile didn't adjust when switching key fobs. Had to manually press the memory button. 5G connection seems fine, maybe it's the server side internal works. If you hear this BMW, buy more CPU cycles please!

The problem is that this is not new for me. I have NEVER received a single notification from My BMW app. So are you saying you regularly get notifications from the app on charging status?

No, I never had a single delay while charging. Only experienced a few delays in vehicle status upate via MyBMW app and one delay in memory seat. All happened recently after BMW swtiched to AWS.

I wish it was just a delay. I am saying I don't get ANY notifications at all. Not in 1 second, 5 second, 5 minutes, 5 hours, never.

So I am the only one experiencing this?

Ok, so tell me what is suppose to happen. Once you plug in and start charging your car, you get a notification on your phone that charging has started? Once you are finished charging, you get another notification? If charging stopped for any reason , you get a notification on your phone? This is how it worked with Tesla so that's what I am presuming.

I disabled notification on my phone. I manually check status by opening the app. If you want to see notification message, you might need to check the app notification settings.

Yes, as I stated in the original post, i have checked that all notification settings are enabled including inside the app as well as the phone general settings for this app.

I get notifications when I plug in with an estimated completion time. I also get something when it actually completes charging.

I would check the app settings under advanced/notifications. Push should be enabled.

Yes, i have checked those settings like 10 times now. They are definitely enabled. Thank you for confirming that is what is supposed to happen when you are charging.

So who should I call to troubleshoot this?

btw all of the data privacy settings are turned on in the car.

There’s a specific BMW i support line. If you call genius they’ll transfer you over to the correct support team.

The only other thing I can think of is that you need to delete your car completely from the BMW app and start fresh. Maybe it’s just not set up correctly. I assume it lists you as the primary user? Either way, delete your car profiles from car, delete from app. Delete your digital keys, etc.

Then set it up new. You just need your VIN and then scan a QR code from the app.

I did have to delete it initially and add back in but I don’t recollect the reason. There was something that didn’t really stick the first time…

Won't that mess up the 2 years free EA? I signed up under BMW instead of EA directly unfortunately (still kicking myself for that).

Not in my experience. Your EA subscription is tied to your VIN.

Ask yourself this… if you get a new phone and need to add the car to your new phone, does that end your EA subscription? It doesn’t.

Once you add the car back to the BMW app your subscription to EA in the BMW app is still active.

You can remove and add the car back as many times as you’d like…

It’s no problem at all. Your email and your VIN is permanently registered on the EA-side computer database, so there is nothing you can do to accidentally delete your own account.

BtW, EA doesn’t let you sign up for the free charging directly through their app anymore anyways so you’re future-proofed by doing it through the My BMW app!

I have the same issue. Haven't received a single notification since I got the vehicle a couple weeks ago. Confirmed numerous times that all permissions are properly enabled

Intersting. I'm also not getting notifications, though I was last week.

I also use Tronity which *is* providing the notifications of charging.

Edit: I take it back; charging notifications in MyBMW app worked over night.
