We added a 2025 iX to our stable
Spouse and I started with two 2022 iX 50 and then changed to two 2023 iX M60. The 2022 models were missing some options and features, due to the ongoing chip shortage drama. Our 2023 models were better equipped, but we both ended up disliking the SensaTec. I still cannot understand how other models get buttery soft SensaFin or Veganza and the iX is still stuck (2025) with rough and rubbery SensaTec vinyl.
Biggest pro with my new 2025 is iDrive 8.5. I loved it in the i5 and my i7, so very happy to have 8.5 in my iX; the seat venting, heating and steering wheel heating is the best part to me, about iDrive 8.5. My 2025 iX has: Alpine White Amido Perforated Leather Driving Assistance Pro Pkg Luxury Pkg Premium Pkg Sport Pkg 22" Aero Bicolour 1021 wheels Radiant Heating Pkg Front Ventilated Seats Wheel Locks I really, really like it...but I am sadly, deeply missing the air suspension. The ride is not as firm as our past X5M, but about as firm as our XM ![]() Oddly though...my iX without air suspension feels better and more dampened over speed bumps than our cars with air suspension. But on most roads...the 2025 is pretty firm, bouncy and not soft!!! |

Quite an assortment of Bimmers you have.
Why didn’t you opt for the Dynamic Handling Pkg?

So sad w/o air suspension, but very happy I got every package I wanted and leather. Leather and vented seats were an absolute must have for me. |

A very big welcome back! Nice build!
And yeah...sensatec is an abomination. They really got it right with sensafin. |

Suspension as firm as the XM? We have a XM and an iX without air suspension and IMO they are worlds apart. The XM is pretty rough at times (and the suspension is pretty loud too) but the iX is very smooth.

Maybe because I have been in a sublimely soft and cushioning i7 (most comfy car in my life; but very big!) for the last 6 months...but to me my new 2025 iX without air suspension feels as firm as our XM. I do think the iX suspension is quieter than the XM though on most roads. |

Congrats! I am partial to the colour white. With those wheels it looks great.
IMO You can feel the road more with the spring setup that makes it engaging and it damps the potholes and speedbumps with less thud/side to side boinging. The downside is the slight chatter at lower speeds over broken surfaces. I didn't have the budget for an 50/M60 and love what I have but would gladly have gone air either. ![]() But, after 4 iX with air suspension.....this new '25 without air goes over speed bumps much better and feels more composed and "dampened" and is quieter! |

Interesting. That’s the first I’ve heard of someone preferring the steel to air. I pick my 50 with air up tomorrow.

Glad your back in the iX ‘fold’, but personally I wouldn’t buy one without the Air suspension. Last edited by thebishman; 09-23-2024 at 04:43 PM.. |

Today marks day 4 with my new '25 iX 50. I am making "peace" without having air suspension as I have driven on the freeway/highway 2x now, and I am really shocked how smooth the ride is.
My iX without air suspension feels better and much more composed going over speedbumps (slowly as one should) and in and out of driveways. I cannot explain why it feels better without air. Surface streets in the 25-45mph is where my iX without air suspension feels the firmest and has some bounce, but not Tesla Model Y or Porsche 911 firm and bouncy. Our past iXs (two 50 and two M60) had rear steering (IAS) and it was great for pulling into parking spots and turning around on a side street, but I never liked it when backing up! Backing up with IAS made me feel like I was slipping a bit on ice, especially in parking lots with more "oily" asphalt. HVAC seems even better than in our '22 and '23 models*. The air flow is colder and stronger. I am always HOT, so good Air Con is crucial for me! * HVAC was great in our '22 and 23, but 25 just feels better to me! PSA: if you find your perfect or near perfect iX and there is no AIS and/or air suspension....it is for sure not the end of the world. Besides from air suspension, my iX 50 has more options and packages than every M60 my dealer has on the lot....and our closest BMW 4 dealerships do not have a single fully loaded 50 with leather. |
