Thank you BMW for dumbest feature ever
So, "convenient opening with remote control".....
I logged into the "My BMW" app to check status of charging. In the middle of a snowstorm. Lists "all doors and windows open" For goodness sakes. This is the most idiotic thing I've ever seen. Hold the unlock button (by sitting down and having a coin in your pocket), and the remote opens everything except the rear hatch. AT LEAST you can close them with the lock button. You CAN'T close the hatch with the hatch button. Now my i4 is filled with snow. Brilliant. And the only way to fix this ignorance is to pull out Bimmercode and turn it off? Stupid. This action should require some sort of confirmation on the remote. Shawn |

I like the feature, but I never thought of the consequences of accidentally using it. You make a good point. It should be far easier to disable.

Sorry, man. That really sucks. Do you have leather or faux?

I wrote another post about this that's a German car thing that has existed for years. Vw does it too with their brands. With the range on the fobs these days it can be a bit of a pita but I've never had an issue with it on any of my recent cars. But I don't really carry much in my pockets either...

In all my years on the car forum, this is the first time I've heard of somebody having an issue. Still, I agree it's problematic to make it hard to disable.
I keep my key in a cargo pocket, away from other stuff, or in my backpack. Often I leave the key behind and use my phone as a key. |

Well, great…
Turning off “convenient opening” is not possible using the “native i4” mode in BimmerCode. The implication is that if you use it in the 4 series mode it may work. I’m not that confident. Maybe in “expert mode”, but I’m afraid of bricking the car. Thanks BMW! Just allow this to be turned off somewhere easy. Shawn |
