Standard LED Headlight Adaptive?

I’ve searched the forum and BMW’s website, but I can’t find much information on the standard LED headlights. It seems most people here opt for laser. Do the standard lights swivel left and right with turns of the steering wheel? After getting laser on my X5 and never getting the matrix feature activated, I’m not too keen on paying for them again. Thanks

No swiveling, no matrix functions, and a rather lame cornering light. Waste of money IMHO.

The standard headlights are passable, and better than most economy cars, except Tesla whose standard lights are actually pretty good.

Having had BMW non-laser and laser specifically on the iX and driving extensively on unlit, curvy country roads riddled with rats (deer), I think they laser is a huge improvement. They don't swivel but the lights activate on the side and illuminate the driver/passenger side depending on the turn direction. The middle-distance in the laser lights is much clearer, and brighter when the brights are not activated. When the auto-brights come on, it's a lovely curtain sweep illumination and I can see well into forested areas.

Are they better than the cornering lights on the Audi prestige packages? Prob not. Will they ever activate anti-dazzle or matrix or whatever in the US? Who knows. But is it better if you're driving in remote areas? Yes, IMO. In the city/highway, prob not.

this is a play on words and nothing more.. laser headlights are also LED, just when turning on the high beam, the laser light shines, in all other cases, LEDs shine)))

the headlights turn when turning the steering wheel)) I have a laser, I know for sure the only thing that is compatible with it is the difference between LED and laser, they are not worth overpaying for them

It frustrates me that my 2019 x3 that I just handed down to my 17y/o son (I got the new iX) has the middle package headlights (mechanical pivoting led with turn lights) that are better in some ways then the standard lights on my $100k car. Light seems better on the iX lights but the feature set is better on the x3.

The beams are broad and the cornering lights work quite well, no need to swivel when it’s illuminating wide range.

No iX anywhere on the planet has turning headlights. In other countries the matrix function is enabled, which is not the same as turning lights. You are talking about matrix.

This. The iX lighting as-is with or without the laser option are very nice, more than adequate for daily driving. The lasers add range and cornering lighting in specific circumstances, and are matrix-capable in the US. Whether BMW activates them in the future is a question, but several reviews are available online for these lights:

The folks at Bimmer-Utility can enable the anti-dazzle (matrix) functionality remotely and I'm probably going to explore that option. No cop in the USA would have any idea about the legality of this feature.

Their website is dense to understand. Great that they’re coding nerds, but us mortals don’t understand what they’re selling and what to buy.

A few on the G60 forum have used Bimmerutility to remove the anti-dazzle headlight blocking code from the new 5 series. Seems as though it’s not universally successful and requires an OTA update to be turned back on. It’d be great if we can just add that feature back with an OTA update from the mothership, but I’m not holding my breath.
