Average hours driving in a month

I spent just about 22hrs driving for the month of May. The app says that is is more than 50% of all other iX drivers.

Thats less than 6hrs a week.

So for the rest of the world, you all don’t seem to drive your cars that much!

Just an interesting observation.

I averaged 21 hours/month in 2024. To be honest, I would happily drive it more. The car is such a joy.

Keep in mind, it may be a statistic particular to that month as well. For example, I drove mine for only 5 hours in May, bringing down those stats, albeit because we were away for most of the month. So maybe a bunch of owners travelled out of town in May 😃. It would be interesting to see what other upcoming month stats look like for you.

Ps: 4.8!! I’ve rarely averaged better than 3 (higher on certain trips, but max 3.1 average in a month so that’s great!)

That 4.8 is in km/kWh which translates into 3.0mi/kWh. Pretty normal.

I’m at average 60+ hours per month and spiking at 120-150 hours 3-4 months when I’m on road trips. I split the car with my wife so I’m adding up the hours but does that count? Still >2500 miles/month over almost 3 years.

I met some clients in Cave Creek for lunch yesterday, about a 35 minute drive from where I live. On the way back it started raining. I could drive like this all day long. I felt like I was in a spaceship capsule. I usually lament having to park and end my trip!

I did 11 hours in May. Not a whole lot going on this past month, seemingly. 8-9 hours should be my monthly work commute so aside from a trip to the ER, guess I was a homebody in May.

11 hours for me too - just around the city and pretty quiet. Love the ride isolation and comfort. I could just drive to listen to the B&W!

The app shows that I did 330h in 2024. That is 27.5h / month. This past May did 18 h.

I love the iX but we live out west and in the rare cases we do a long trip it is not practical. I hope to upgrade in a couple of years when the range will be longer. Last week we did a 950 mile trip (475 each way) through UT and because of the range and charging limitations we drove our 2024 X5. The X5 averaged 27.4 m/gal so a theoretical range of 600 miles on a 21.9 gal tank. But not as comfortable and quiet as the X5.

I've got the IX40 shitty 77kwh battery which is a crime against humanity in the big IX with efficiency of a brick at 80mph speed in the cold and windy.
Saving grace UK is small and apart from remote Scotland and Wales (which only have 22/50 kwh chargers) the infrastructure is good plenty of 150-350kwh all around elsewhere so much so 600 mile round trips are a breeze with 20 min stops × 3 leaving at 100% soc from home.

That's remarkable efficiency for an M60. Are you doing lots of low speed highway miles by any chance?

There was a lot of motorway driving in May, though no slower than the speed limits.

I did go to Norway in the car in May (2812 mile round trip from the UK) and Norway does have a somewhat subdued speed limit (such that max range mode doesn’t kick in).

Drove exclusively in B mode with very little cruise control used. I did make use of the auto speed limiter extensively…apart from in the Netherlands where it doesn’t function.
