Smoked Grille

Got the grill covered with 35% tint yesterday. Thought I would share here for anyone considering doing the same. No issues so far.

Looks awesome. Very tempted to this to my car as well!! I've seen a few cars that also did this over the years.

I'm not too fond of the all-black look so I left a little "texture" in there.

Yeah, I think 35% is a good compromise.

FWIW, from my research so far, I've been following these grille tinting threads for 2 years and so far there is no report of any impact on any of the radars or sensors.

Wow! Wow! This looks so damn cool.
I am completely new to this, but do you just tint the grille with limo tint?

You do realize that tinting headlights will significantly reduce the output of those headlights. Why would anyone do that?

Safety > Appearance.

I could never understand why someone would tint their headlights

Cause they look cool. And of course they look somewhat cool and distinctive, because it is not a good idea to do it so almost noone is foolish enough to do it which makes them more rare and thus contributes to them looking cool.

Why is anyone surprised people will sacrifice safety for looks? People will sacrifice just about anything for looks.

Does anyone know the opacity of the factory’smoked’ headlights that come with packages like m-sport pro? More so, does the factory increase the brightness of the headlights when those package’s are implemented?
I could see a light smoke on the headlights, especially if tinting the grill.
Also read in this forum somewhere that the standard led headlights here in the U.S. aren’t as bright as other places in world. Bums we out that we cannot code iX anymore.
Would be nice if bmw would role out active matrix now that it’s legal in US.

I meant for the “grille” part. That’s also tint?

Yes, the grille is tint, not PPF. I didn’t touch the headlights.

Does the tint go across the black strip down the middle, or is it 2 pcs?
Looks good!!

I believe it’s two horizontal pieces that split on the horizontal line on the grille. It covers the vertical center strip also

I’ll have to look into this. It looks really good.
If anyone does it, please share the process and I’ll be sure to do the same.

The photo of an iX with the heavily tinted grill and headlights is not chanders’s car - that is something darylp310 found online.
