World Premiere: 2022 BMW i4 eDrive40 and i4 M50
BMW will NOT Pass the $7,500 Federal Tax Credits and Incentives for New All-Electric and Plug-in Hybrid Vehicles to the customers.
If you are planning to lease a new BMW iX, i4, X3 30e, X5 45e, 330e, and 530e BMW will NOT allow you to apply for the federal tax credits. Instead, BMW will apply for those credits and keep the money. An average base Electric and Plug-in Hybrid BMW vehicles are about $4,000 to $10,000 dollars more expensive than your gasoline engines. The insurance for full electric vehicles is about 15% more expensive. The cost of installing home Level II chargers is an additional $3,000 to $5,000 dollars depending on your house and wiring. Therefore, the intent of government was to establish tax credits to encourage consumers to purchase and/or lease these vehicles to move towards the clean air goals and objectives. With BMW withholding the $7,500 federal tax money from the consumers, it makes no business sense for the consumer to spend anywhere from $7,000 to $15,000 dollars more than they usually do to lease a BMW Electric and Plug-in Hybrid vehicles. If you are a CPA, tax and financial guy/lady, you will see that leasing a BMW Electric and Plug-in Hybrid is a major financial setback. The only winner is the BMW who gets to fully profit from the sales of these vehicles and the tax credits. BMW does not even provide any attractive incentives towards these vehicles. This goes against what the intent of legislatures was to promote cleaner cars. |

Seen an i4 at the dealer, Grandcoup certainly looks better than coup.
Interior probably what G20 LCI will looks like. The front is actually looks better in person, open below bumper, butifull panel on top. |

That display looks really ugly in the interior of a BMW. Sticking out on both sides....looks like someone stuck a screen in there without integrating into the dashboard frame properly.

Shot some social media content on the i4 and iX (first time seeing both), in the i4 the display may look like an afterthought in pictures, but when you're in the driver seat, the slight curve of the display does a lot to the experience and does not take away from the driver-focused cockpit BMW does so well.
If you are a BMW owner and have considered a base Model 3, the i4 should get strong consideration for the fact that it feels exactly like a 3/4 Series. The M50i might be a tough sell because of the price and range, but the eDrive40 is what most people have been asking for from BMW and should tick a lot of boxes for those who are looking for a EV. |

OH MY GOD THAT WHEEL GAP ! Wonder if it is standing on shipping blocks or if it will drop after a year like my 235i did i thought at first back then my suspension was shot to the toilet.... but apparently it is normal at least what i found out back then that the car drops a bit with time. But i hardly believe it will drop that much!

Floating screen allows for lower dashboard height, better visibility. I'll take it.

Update -- I went and looked at the FAQ again on BMWUSA... it looks like they've changed some of the verbiage on the lease tab from the last time I looked at it. The CAP redux is now missing the $7500 tax.... so it looks like you're correct. I expect this to change once we get closer to launch and delivery stateside. It's not as good of a deal to lease without that rebate IMO.

If the screen curves outward at the end and the the dash inward at the same connection point = that would look better because then the display wont stick out on the sides too much. I think it would accomplish both but lets see when these things go on the road and people have a chance to see how it functions in real world conditions etc.
