Best Neck Pillow for iX driver seat

I have had my IX for a month now and am starting to experience some neck discomfort during my commutes mostly due to the unique shape of the headrest in the iX and it not providing enough support to my body frame. I want to check if anybody has any suggestions for a neck pillow that is a good fit for the iX driver seat?

Appreciate the help!

There’s another couple threads in this forum about this topic.

What I’ve done is order 10 different headrest cushions from Amazon, try each of them for a day and then return the ones you don’t like. I have like 4 different ones since my wife likes certain ones and I like different ones. Everyone’s at a different height so it’s very personal and you just have to try.

This is the one my wife currently uses: https://a.co/d/0v5ucx2

I tried to get something that didn’t jut out too much and create a misalignment between the back on the backrest of the chair and head/neck while resting on the pillow.

I believe this product is custom-made for the iX:

https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...i/52105a81079/

But no idea how comfortable it is.

Not very, and expensive.

If you go to BMW dealer for a service call they’ll order you these for no charge. Not very comfortable but better than hitting your head on the plastic. YMMV.

I am about 5'9" and i do find myself sitting slightly more reclined to be able to benefit or get cossy with the headrest. May eventually get a makeshift pillow for the neck. I'll ask my tailor.

That may or may not be true, depending on your dealership. They are under no obligation to do so.

Maybe there should be a recall for the hole in the headrest. They've recalled just about everything else!

I have often wondered before i got my iX how a seat like this, one piece and sexy, can fit the body of all gender , shape, size. Maybe BMW can enlighten us when designing this piece of art NCC 1701 Captain Kirk's seat. I do fly an aeroplane for a living and the Airbus seat is no where like this sexy.

I was able to get one for free. Still don’t think it’s worth it even as free lol

There actually is (at least a TSB), but remedy is only available in Europe I've discovered:

Hi,
I was in our local BMW dealers the other day and had a good look inside a new BMW i7
I noticed that the rear passengers get nice headrest cushions on their rear seats that match the colour of the leather interior.
I might try to order one of these for our iX - as my wife is quite vertically challenged and she hits back of her head on the seat plastic cutout trim.
Example i7 photo below!

I tried this approach, saying it is very uncomfortable for my wife, when dropping my car off and the service advisor said that BMW does not have anything to help with it.

Impressed once again by the knowledge and dedication to customer service.

It’s a safety thing not a comfort thing. My dealer didn’t know at first but I gave them the part number and told them to do some research. They came back 10 minutes later and had it in order at no charge. YMMV, but BMW corporate definitely has a program to give you these. Your dealer may just not be aware until they check.

There is no such SIB in the database in the US market (SIB 52 08 22), and the defect code refers to this:

https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...76375-9999.pdf

Your dealer may purchase them for goodwill (and I expect they used the NHTSA alert from 2020 for this), but I searched the database with my SA, and there is nothing from BMW on this side of the pond related to replacing or correcting this problem as a safety - or a cosmetic - issue.

Maybe. I showed them this image from this post (https://bmwi.bimmerpost.com/forums/s...php?p=29887914) and they found it, ordered it and said there's no charge. I went to my dealer in Peabody, MA.

Maybe it was a courtesy but they didn't say that.

I also showed this image to my dealer and I have a free pair on the way. They are severely backordered though… So thank you for that!

I tried here in Spain, and it seems that they don't know anything about it. So, the answer was no, even after giving them the part number.

Show them this image which has a campaign number on it. They’ll be able to find it that way. When my service advisor saw this image, he keyed it in without questioning me on anything.
