So performance and handling wise what is the i8 supposed to compete against? I know they say the Carrera, but is that what BMW has developed it for or is that just the writer's logic?
Also is there going to be a way to run off of the engine only? So it will be RWD. |

Please bear in mind that the writer conducted the test and review from the passenger seat.
This was not a test drive as no one willl get behind the wheel for quite a while.

Well folks all those years of asking bmw to design a true super car has arrived. They will no doubt use this chassis to make an M model that will likely boast a larger petrol engine with the electric hybrid system making and likely will have an output of 500 hp/500 foot pounds with a 3200 pound body and all of the bmw chassis dynamics.
Perhaps even more power but no doubt within 3-4 years this will arrive and I will be all over it! |

I wonder if BMW's cars run so hot because every friggin pre release test is done in cold temperatures.
I'm obviously being sarcastic but it really does seem like every car, even the M3 is tested in cold conditions only.

They seem cool....But the mechanic in me wonders how much the 'electrical engineers' will charge to repair these supercomputers on wheels when they inevitably break.
