Re ordering I8
I ordered mine in March 2014 paying a small deposit, in July I was asked to come into the dealership to spec my car. In septemberthey told me delivery would be the first week in December. My car arrived at the dealer on 16th November, I was to collect the car on 18th, but I went on vacation that day so didn't collect it until 2nd December.i paid for the car on collection.i understand the waiting time now is around 11 months, but there are quite a few for sale at a premium of £10,000 or so.

Desperately waiting for mine...
I ordered mine back in April 2013, and my dealer told me to put a deposit. I ordered it White/Blue with white interior and turbine wheels (Pure Impulse World). He told me I would only get the 2015 models, and he still doesn't know when I will get mine...
Anyone knows how can I find quick where is my car or when it is coming? Congrats to every owner of i8s out there! |

Arrived
I was on the dealer list for about two years. Spec'ed, ordered and put a deposit down the first week of July 2014 and mine arrived yesterday, 1/17/15. She's home now. Blue/PI Pkg and turbine wheels. msrp and even a small discount due to a special relationship I have with the dealer. Sweeeeeeeet ride! Will post pix later.
To those who are waiting, sometimes the timing and process is fluky. For some reason my dealer's #3 ordered car is arriving behind my #4 2014 car. He can't explain it either. |

SoCal Meet-up
.........
Will watch for the eventual date and see if it works for us. Still the newbie, but loving the car and figuring out all of the technology and features. Extremely glad that I got the blue. It's such a striking shade of blue and for me, works very well on this car. Hope to run down soon and visit my wrap guy to talk about potential sill wraps, window tint and clear bra. |

Mine is in production.. (I have the Vin and Prod#) .. scheduled to be built starting 29th Jan. Sophisto Grey, Giga, with the blue hi-lite.
Looking forward to it - I have 2 extremes - V8 beast and hybrid toy. I noticed a few people saying they had given up their 650s 550s for the i8, I had considered trading in my X6 but I just don't think I can do it.. Any of you folks that did trade in have any regrets? |

Car possibly available at msrp?
BMW of San Diego seems to have a gray/PI/W-wheel car available at msrp. Not sure what's up, but seems the original ordering buyer may have backed out. I saw it last weekend in their showroom. Not really sure what's up, whereas nobody's saying much at the store, other than it's just sitting there for unknown reasons. It was on their web site last night at the $147xxx price.
Dustin King is their Internet mgr. Also not sure about other customers on their waiting list. It might be worth a call to them if, just by chance, it can be had. |

Porsche 993 TT for i8?
My i8 due in late March or early April. I have a 1996 Porsche 911 Twin Turbo, black on black, pristine, that I will probably sell to make room for i8. I just wonder if the i8 will be as exciting as Porsche's last air cooled turbo - 0-60 MPG in 3.6 seconds. I may end up keeping both.

I would keep the 911. The 911 and the i8 are two different cars, with two different purposes (assuming you dont' view driving a utility !
The i8 is a fun car to drive and few will be able to test its limits. Its amazingly quick, efficient and a head turner. If you like doing track events, the i8 is not really a track car. That's the 911's wheelhouse. For the short run, keep both, then see for yourself. |
