Zaino / Tint

I've been busy with the new ride!

Just had tint installed and detailed the car with Zaino sealant. Looking good!

I'd consider it...best method to black out?

For rims, from best to worst:

Powder coat > paint > plasti dip > spray paint > sharpie marker

i'd go with a gloss black wrap or a plasti dip. although neither look better than a full on powder coat, it isn't permanent. you can still take it off. I love the original turbine rims on the i8, hate to change it permanently.

What's the viability like out of those windows now? I think that would be illegal in many places sadly.

I have Madico Wincos tint on all of my windows: 10% rear, 10% sides, 70% front windshield. Helps immensely with heat reduction in the car and obviously looks great and offers privacy. I’ve done the same numbers on all of my last 3 cars. I’ve never once received a ticket or even a warning for my tint (legal limit for side windows in Texas is 35%). I’ve been pulled over a few different times for other things and tint was never once brought up.

I second Vance's comments. Tint is the first thing I do to my cars, heat protection and privacy! You can see in second picture (door windows) that visibility is good from inside the car looking out, looks darker from the outside looking in...

Looks great. Did you go with a 35% or 20% tint?

Please don't. Blacked wheels versus the elaborate two tone finish?

Would you throw a can off marr black paint on your newly acquired Vangogh to make it more 'gangsta'?

We are in 2018, not 2008.

Oh... and i have a pet hate for black wheels..

35%, I've used darker in other cars but this % works well with dark silver...

I’m a fan of Zaino products, have used them for years. When I picked up the car from the dealer it had a nice coat of wax. Unfortunately, every time I touched the car it would show fingerprints. Zaino is a sealant not a wax, lasts for 6+ months. Car stays cleaner, it’s easier to wash, I even use it on the wheels to minimize brake dust buildup.

This is a multi step process:
- wash car with Dawn to remove all wax
- clay bar the car to remove contaminants
- wash car with Zaino shampoo
- apply Zaino All in One
- apply Zaino Z2

Enjoy the mirror like finish! FYI, I’m not a professional detailer, all products can be applied by hand...

Good to know. I have used F11 top coat and am happy with the results but will try Zaino in near future to compare.

No problem at all. I've used it on a BMW M3 CF roof previously with no issues. Keep in mind the CF roof has a clear coat on it just like the paint. I apply Zaino on the windows, plastic lights, trim, wheels, etc. and water just beads right off. Other contaminants clean off easily also (bugs, dirt, bird droppings, etc.)...
