JFC, I get they smashed the front fascia for the sake of efficiency and to keep up with the enlargement of grilles but what the hell is up with the back? The lights are completely flush with the rear panels, zero character or 3D effects and the entire back looks like someone took a coarse sander and wiped it out.
I think this is shameful from the same company that designed the F8x GTS OLEDs. |

I have a Rivian on deposit. 400+ range and exactly what an EV SUV should be in terms of performance, luxury and capability.

You got to have a lot of faith in a brand new car company, with your fingers crossed that there won't be much growing pain along the way.

Same here. And the futuristic and minimalist look continues to grow on me. EVs are clearly the future and I think it's great the design is also futuristic and different. I 100% think that in a few years, all the other conventional looking BMWs (X3, X5, etc.) will quickly look very dated.

IF (and that is a big IF) they are well built, have decent after sales support, deliver on the promised range, use materials on par with BMW, etc., I am not sure I could convince myself to get the more expensive iX instead of the Rivian SUV. They are not direct competitors, but the Rivian front end looks better than the BMW, and it is a bigger (maybe too big for me), more practical vehicle and it looks very nice in pics. I prefer the exterior look of the Rivian, interior they look very different but I am not leaning more one way or the other. The material feel, fit and finish will be more important in that respect. There are a few small red flags that I have seen so far with them.
Anyway in the end, more choices for us is a great thing. To each their own and hope that everyone is happy with whatever they end up buying. |
