Ultimate Driving Experience - i4 drive review
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com The instant power from the start is just crazy. Surprisingly, BMW does do a good job of hiding the mass of the car through the turns. Obviously, the all wheel drive system does help. I love how there's power throughout the whole band. Don't have to worry about the sweet spot as it's always on tap. Almost all the i4's were fully loaded. I didn't get to really play with the iDrive system since you were in and out of the car. I got to drive a Tanzanite blue version and I'm so glad I chose that color! It looks really beautiful. All and all, a fun event with good people. If you're waiting on your order, you won't be disappointed. BMW really nailed the most important aspect of an all EV in terms of driving dynamics. Especially, for its first attempt at a grand coupe. It will only get better in models years to come.

At its best angle, Tanzanite is beautiful. But at other angles it just looks like Monaco Blue, reluctantly I switched my order to Portimao. Being built in the next couple weeks supposedly.

Awesome!! I see a San Remo Green i4 (the color I ordered) in the background. I am signed up for the Washington D.C. UDE next week - looking forward to it. I got to drive the iX for a second time today. Love it. My dealer won't be getting an i4 for at least a few more weeks.

They did. Looked like 2,3,8 series. No M cars which kinda sucked. There were a lot of people test driving the iX. It was so freaking cold with the wind coming off the ocean that I decided to head out after the i4 event.

San Remo Green was one I had my eye on but couldn’t see it in person so didn’t take the chance. The brother on the other hand has actually ordered the green on his Taycan but I saw it and it looks stunning, especially with the black alloys.

San Remo Green looks stunning in person. I ordered originally Brooklyn Grey, but had a chance to see ICE versions in both colors plus Portimao Blue live and side by side in a dealership. My M50 SRG is about get into production so getting closer.

At the event in the Washington DC area, we drove both the i4 40 and the i4 m50 in the tight autocross course. When I drove, the course was wet and so they wanted us to stay in B Drive mode on each of three drives. Fun, but the B Drive feels strange (perhaps just because it's something different).
The also has a different course where you could drive the iX, but it wasn't an autocross. You could just accelerate in a straight line and brake, and then navigate some very tight turns through cones to see how the rear wheel steering helps it to turn really tightly as slow speeds. For the road drives, they didn't have any electric cars available for that, so I only drove the 340i and the M X4

I did the autocross last year and it was a hoot. I am signed up for it again this year. Great chance to try out an I4 at speed which dealerships don't really want you to do on a test drive.
Also a good chance to test drive some other cars. Last year there was a drag race option also. I didn't do it as drag racing isn't of interest to me. If you haven't signed up for autocross...and it is coming to your city or area, I encourage you to do so. |

curious... how were they charging all these cars at the UDE? I've seen them charge the electric minis and i3s with diesel generators in the past out in the open. I'd imagine they would at least try to hide that so it doesn't blow up all over the intertubes (unless it already did).

Did the UDE event in Atlanta. Unlike the other ones, they had both the eDrive 40 and the M50. On the auto cross, the 40 was more fun. You could definitely feel the weight of the M50. But the acceleration that the M50 had was insane. I've never driven an electric car, and for my first experience to be in a M50 was crazy.
