Yep, one of his earliest recordings. He was just messing around and played the guitar intro part and Van told him to remember it as that was perfect for the start of the song!

Some of earliest recordings of American folk & country music were made by Ralph Peer. Peer would go on the road throughout the South and Appalachians with his heavy record-cutting machinery, set up his gear and put the word out that he was offering $50 to locals for a song, plus modest royalties.
One such trip was to Bristol, Virginia, close to the border with Tennessee and a small group came in to record several sides on August 2, 1927. A.P. Carter sang, his wife Sara sang and played the autoharp and Sara's cousin Maybelle played the guitar. They were to become the first family of country music in the late 1920s and 1930s.
