I wouldn't say it's 'taking a chance', rather a solid choice.

I knew there would be levels of refinement and luxury simply because it's a high end BMW, so that's nothing new.

probably the best surprise to me, however is the range.

I'm used to regularly seeing a 15-20% range reduction in my previous EVs from stated range, but with the iX there is a 15-20% INCREASE from stated range. It's quite a delight. not used to having brands overdeliver in any capacity.

Thanks

I really appreciate everyone’s feedback on my original post. I ended up leasing a 2024 iX50 from a BMW in Palm Harbor, FL. Vehicle pretty much everything I wanted and it took them 2 weeks to get the deal where I wanted it (discounts & trade value). My patience paid off and I couldn’t be happier. The Nav and HD display 8.5 is a huge upgrade from 7 and hope I don’t have any glitches but they had to take my vehicle back to service to add the NAV ~ the Genius was apologetic but said it was nothing to worry about. This vehicle is blowing me away so far. Now to get my wall charger installed so I can relax. 🤣

Beautiful vehicle. Mocha is my personal favorite of the interior colors.

You never disclosed the lease deal ... Can you share?

3 months in new IX from 2019 X5 - still love the drive, especially new acceleration, quiet operation, IX still smells new (according to our friends). The main difference though is the charging - its no longer convenient to stop at a gas station - couple of minutes and you have full gas tank (and a $100 bill). With IX you plan your charge at home OR look on the special APP for close by Super Charging stations. Sometimes you might need to spend 20-30 minutes hang out in the car or around the car to kill time while its super charging. But that all depends on how much and how far you drive Overall - its a beautiful comfortable car that is very pleasant to drive! We think the switch was totally worth it.

Thanks for your feedback!

Curious what kinda lease offer did you get?

Also does someone from BMW come to your house to install the charging unit?

I received the $9,900 and an additional $5,195 discount off. They originally offered me $29k for my 2019 X5 w/almost 78k miles and I got them up to $32k. I was very pleased with my deal.

I’m LOVING this vehicle. Not that I need the attention, but I’ve caught a lot of people staring at my iX…. It’s a bonus to be the only iX on most roads.

BMW uses Qmerit to install their wallbox but frankly you can use any qualified electrician to install whatever wall box you want. BMW will not do it themselves. They outline this here: https://www.bmwusa.com/charging.html#!#home-charging

https://qmerit.com/ev/bmw/

Interestingly, the BMW wallbox (EVSE), in the US, will charge at a 9.6kW maximum rate while 3rd party EVSE will support faster speeds that are supported by the current line of EVs that BMW sells. This won't matter in practical use but some people might want to install the fastest EVSE possible if they're going through the expense. There are several threads on this topic.

I contacted Qmerit directly and avoided the $200 “fee” you are hit with contacting them thru BMW. I purchased an Emporia charge station that the electrician will install. It came highly recommended.
