Well, after a 3 week stint at the dealership dealing with my eSIM issue while BMW struggled to figure out what to do next, I’m happy to be reunited with my iX M60. Despite having a nice iX 50 loaner vehicle, you really get spoiled on those extra features like air suspension, B&W sound, and all the other bells and whistles not to mention the performance difference. I fall in love with it all over again whenever I get it back!
Still strongly considering that 2025 M5 Hybrid (G90) next year. Production starts next July. |

i too got an ix50 loner car with 21” wheel/tire when my M60 was in for recalls, without the air suspension, ix50 surprisingly drives rougher than the M60

Yeah,, it’s a very noticeable difference. If you don’t have rough roads in your city, then maybe it won’t matter to some, but it sure as hell does in Houston, Texas!

Sort of. The updated the software a few times, waited for BMW to give them the next set of instructions. Then they replaced the telecommunication module after that, but all of the errors still persisted. Probably a waste of time. They updated the software a few more times with a slightly newer version than the one before and considering it had been three weeks, I just said I wanted my vehicle back. If the problem comes back, I’m already used to rebooting iDrive on a regular basis. I really just wanted my vehicle back. BMW in Germany didn’t really know what to do next. I’ll know for sure in a few few weeks, but so far so good.

Thanks. Personally I think it’s software related - i’ve been in IT long enough to come to that conclusion - especially since swapping out the telecommunications module didn’t warrant any changes on their diagnostic software. IDrive 8+ has been loaded with issues, but they appear to have solved many of them. It will be interesting to see people’s feedback on iDrive 8.5 as those vehicles start getting upgraded.
