Because other than having a V8 and some visceral feel it's not such a great car. It doesn't handle better than modern cars.

Buying a BEV now from BMW doesn’t make much sense with their announcement of moving to the NACS. Wait until they revert to the tesla standard charger in 2025.

Also don’t you think it would be very straightforward to retrofit? Even Teslas have a simple kit convert older pre-2019 Teslas. They do not support NACS because it uses the CCS protocol. But they have an inexpensive retrofit kit you can buy and handy people can even swap it out at home! In short, don’t hold up buying a car today because of a simple connector. |

If you think that battery tech is going to dramatically improve in two years, I have some bad news. For a dramatic increase in two years they would need to announce the breakthrough today. Time to get the factory converted and ramped. Currently there is t anyone saying they found the answer for solid state batteries to solve anode/cathode dendrite growth problems

BMW is behind Tesla. Fact. Need better regen, better efficiency, more effective use of space, better cooling tech, etc. Hence BMW uses a larger battery that makes the cars heavier and less efficient. |

They are literally a pass through with the right connector on each side. A long as you have heavy enough gauge wire inside the connector, no issues.

The charger I used was ChargePoint at Truist Park - my guess then is that it was broken or malfunctioning. The good news was I got free parking and it charged for 4 hours for free. About 16 miles of range added but long enough to enjoy lunch etc.

Leasing (vs buying) gives you an option and a hedge on depreciation of the vehicle (you're pre agreeing to a price for the car in the future, the residual). Typically the option value of the lease is priced into payment and residual such that if you intend to just own the car and pay it off, it's not going to be worth starting with a lease.
however, right now with the EV credit only being applicable to the lease (at least for me as my income is over the cap for any car) the full cost to own math works out in my modeling such that it's almost the same (especially when accounting for reinvesting the delta in payment @5%) for lease vs buy making the option free and With EVs depreciation is super uncertain that's an excellent option to have. |
