i4 range query.
I have absolutely no experience of electric cars and so I would be very grateful for an expert’s opinion on the following question.
My car is at the dealership at the moment whilst they try to trace and fix a very intermittent knock from the rear of the car. I have been given an i4 Edrive 40 as a loan car. I have a forthcoming journey which I may have to make in the i4 if I haven’t got my car back. It’s a return journey to/from Reading to Birchanger Services on the M11. It’s motorway all the way there and back M4/M25/M11 and totals 180 miles. It’ll be early on a Sunday morning so hopefully no hold-ups. If I aim to cruise at 70mph will I have sufficient range if I fully charge the battery at home before leaving? TIA |

Yes you will.
![]() I live near Stansted so know the destination well. I recently did almost the opposite in my i4 M50, which probably has a little less range. I charged to 100%, drove to Guildford, did a bit of local driving and returned with 30%. They also have fast chargers there if you did somehow arrive with <50% charge. Definitely use the sat nav and put home as destination and then add Birchanger as the interim and then it will show the estimated state of charge when you get home. This just popped up on a feed. This is how mine looks with iDrive 8.5 but if it's the iDrive 8.0 it will look a bit different but you get the idea: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5dLBNudMUAQ Last edited by srbs73; 02-08-2024 at 07:16 AM..
