Any chance this is one of the stations that is opened for testing? Supposedly, Tesla is whitelisting based on the car's MAC/VIN/IP, but testing stations are wide open for anyone.

Do you know how can one tell if it’s a testing station? I plan to test some other stations over weekend and will report back.

No idea. But back when they were on-boarding and testing with Ford, anyone from GM, Rivian, etc., could fool the stations as long as they were open for testing.

That's the one that I ordered and what was referenced in the State of Charge video posted above.

The vortex plug is correct. However, it's useless on a SC dispenser unless you have a way to activate charging similar to the GM, Ford, or Rivian apps. Otherwise, the only place you might be able to use it today would be a 3rd party site that has a NACS DC cable that works assuming the CCS1 cable is inoperable.

Read above... we might be able to charge by selecting a GM car in the Tesla app. Unclear whether this works everywhere or on stations configured for testing.

Apparently, you can just "tell" the Tesla app that you have a GM and it'll authenticate and start a charge! Let's see how long this loop hole lasts! Not sure how easy it is to plug!

If it is indeed a loophole (and not a testing site) you can bet it won't last

Thanks for all of the info. When you see this up in the Tesla app, do you give it an ID or something from the adapter so it is recognized? I may buy that adapter. Also what charge speed did you get?

This is not authorized to do any of this. Be careful using a non BMW Nacs adapter. You can damage your battery and void the warranty.

The quick-and-dirty is that there is no such thing as a BMW NACS adapter. Tesla is manufacturing most of the adapters for OEMs, with several sourcing from multiple vendors like Lectron & A2Z, etc. It is looking like GM is currently selling the Lectron adapter, so I feel very safe buying that one.

You cannot damage the battery. A faulty adapter could damage the port, damage the dispenser plug, or overheat and degrade a charge.

Why are you rushing out to buy something you will likely not be able to use any time soon?

It's explained above. Currently, we may be able to charge. Who knows if this is possible because of a one-off testing site, GM's crap platform that requires the hole on Tesla's side, or just an oversight. Regardless, I want to test and experiment now, and if it remains available, I can take advantage of it if I need it.

I have the A2Z adapter and used it for a 4000 mile roadtrip in my Rivian, worked flawlessly. It won't work with BMW until they are authorized by Tesla. I've already tried with my IX, it just says "unauthorized vehicle" in the app when you plug in.

Did you try above - set up the car as a GM car in the Tesla app? And have you tried it since GM was switched on?

Thanks. So the sub-thread above may have been an isolated case, potentially at a station setup for testing.

I wonder if people who have 2023 iX’s (which do not support the Plug and Charge handshake protocol), can still trick the SuperChargers?

Good thought; I could see that. The person who started this sub-topic has a 2022.

exxxviii turns out you're right, apparently the first location (https://www.plugshare.com/location/457482) I tried is a test site that allows other vehicle manufacturers. I tried a different location (https://www.plugshare.com/location/609260) today, and that one failed with the same error venom21 shared.

Sorry for the false hope...

Well hopefully You can always return it now lol! I knew there was no way Tesla would allow a loophole like that nationwide.
