I’m on mobile. Take a pic and circle the item. It’s what’s at the front of the battery pack.

What does the car show on the dashboard if the the pyrofuse has been activated? Is there some error message or it is a complete blackout?

I wonder if the battery pack is the reason for the $hitty turning radius.

Why would it?

It's the maximum turn angle of the front wheels. I can't see how the battery affects that.

It doesn’t… I think they’re jsur upset about the turning angle regardless.

Well I was wondering if the battery pack goes all the way in between the front wheels and hence they can't turn in as much.
But maybe this is just the way it is in all G26s? The G20s had a way better turn radius.

Interesting enough, BMW battery packs can be refurbished, at least currently you could gut and replace all the cells.

Newer Teslas have a battery pack with the cells basically held in place by industrial glue/foam. This makes the new battery packs destined for the recycle bin with any failure.
Not entirely true

The bad cells are shut down and eliminated so the pack is still usable for battery storage or a second life powering a school for example when the power goes out

If you looked at the photos from original post you can see everything to answer your questions..

I agree. What I should have said is that repairability is low.

A lot less repairable than any BMW HV battery

What the difference between this battery and an edrive35 battery? I know it lower wattage and I assume it the same dimensions since the I4 dimensions are all the same. So could you replace an edrive35 battery with an eDrive40 battery?

Battery case is same size. Smaller batteries inside. Theoretically yes on paper but the car would likely need to know it’s changed. Different control modules etc. not realistic price wise either.

Also just an FYI. Replacement of all 11 cell modules comes out to about $80k in parts before any labor. And that’s warranty pricing, not customer pay pricing.

Sobering amount.

Question for the community: on average, what is the annual insurance premium for i4 N50 vs 440i GC?

Just new here today and am looking at all EVs and models. That was an interesting photo. I wonder if the battery is or will be as infuriating as my cell phone's battery in the long run...

Cool photos.
And where is the actual cooling of the battery?
How thick is the bottom sheet of aluminium?

Not sure how thick it is, but it’s not flimsy. Also, the cooling grids are underneath the cell modules. Which have an air gap between the bottom of the battery housing so it’s not just resting in the battery pan.

Hello Everyone
I hope you’re doing great
I need little help with bmw ix1 u11.
The vehicle had a crash and airbags are deployed. The vehicle is not in running mode the soon you turn on it shows high voltage battery malfunction. I am looking for some help if some genius can help me figure out where the pyrotechnic safety switch is located in the U11. And do i need to replace the SME module as well?
According to dealer i called they said there is only one pyro switch located at the negative terminal of the battery but i think the must be high voltage battery safety switch which is blown.
If someone have any technical diagrams or any information please guide me with that
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance
