Software update will not run 12v to low

I have the message the update cannot be done due to low 12v, and that I need to take a long drive …
The car has done regular 20 to 30 minute drives every day … like always for the past 2 years.
Car is 3 years old with 60K km, I cannot imagine the 12v is dead, or is it?
Anyone that has/had similar experience?

If you can, check the voltage of the battery and if it isn't a false alarm, maybe your 12V does need to be replaced. I'd jump on the opportunity to have the dealership replace it under warranty in that case.

2-3 years is early but i do recall plenty of other EVs having 12V battery issues so you never know. It could be a bug in the current version of software you are on, could be a faulty reading of the 12V battery voltage.

Thanks, I drove today for like 1h:30m and after I stopped it proposed to do the update, but then it mentioned again the voltage to low. Either a bug or a real problem, I’ll call the dealership on Thursday … I think my warranty expires in January …

Although I am a new iX owner, I have owned a Tesla and a Ford MachE for several years. The issue of how long a 12v battery lasts and when to replace it has been a big topic of discussion on both the Tesla and MachE owners forums. The consensus was that 12v batteries in EV's will likely have a shorter lifespan if exposed to extreme temperatures (both really hot and really cold temps are bad for the battery chemistry). Also, very importantly, sometimes the car may give you an indicator that the 12v needs to be checked or replaced, but other times a 12v battery may die on you without any warning. This actually happened to me in my Tesla.

Therefore, since I live in a place with very hot summertime temps, I proactively replace my 12v batteries once every 2 years. I think of it as cheap insurance for peace of mind.

Almost sounds as if you might have a bad cell in the 12V tbh.

Well my software update does not go beyond ‘6% preparing update’.
It always stops at that percentage and throws a message there is no software update available.
So, if you go in for the 12V battery, I would definitely ask them to perform the update for you.

Hey BMW algorithm …. pay attention … your OTA and remote services are an absolute SHIT SHOW
